Dispute over smoke detectors: Tenants in Ulm against Vonovia

Vonovia tenants in Ulm-Wiblingen will have to pay a higher basic rent in the future. The reason: The ten-year-old smoke alarm systems were replaced with new, modern ones. Because the housing company declares this to be a technical improvement in security technology, the costs should be passed on to the tenants. Consumer advocates doubt the legal certainty. Many tenants are resisting the planned high-tech smoke detectors – among other things because of the functions that the new devices bring with them.

Joy in Heidenheim, frustration in Hoffenheim

The European Cup results of the Bundesliga teams from BW were mixed last night. There was reason to be happy at the Brenz: 1. FC Heidenheim also won its second game in the Europa Conference League. FCH won 1-0 away at Paphos FC from Cyprus. On the other hand, the TSG Hoffenheim players return to Kraichgau without anything worth counting. Hoffenheim lost 2-0 at FC Porto in the Europa League.

Winemakers expect a poor grape harvest

The grape harvest in Germany this year is expected to be lower than it has been since 2017. Around 7.9 million hectoliters of wine must are expected, as the German Wine Institute in Bodenheim, Rhine-Hesse announced. That would be around ten percent less than the ten-year average and around nine percent less than in 2023. In Württemberg, winemakers are expecting above-average losses of around 25 percent compared to the previous year. The reason given is the April frost, which left its mark. The growing areas of Saale-Unstrut (minus 73 percent) and Ahr (minus 64 percent) recorded particularly high losses.

BW-Minister of Health: hold countries Hospital reform on

The hospital reform passed in the Bundestag does not require approval from the federal states – but in the Bundesrat, the states can send the law to the mediation committee of the Bundesrat and Bundestag with a majority. And that will probably happen – at least that’s what BW Health Minister Manfred Lucha (Greens) announced last night on the SWR program “To the point! Baden-Württemberg”.

A majority of the federal states want to stop the controversial reform for the time being in order to “make it better,” said Lucha. Green-black in BW and Union-led states have long been criticizing the reform with which the federal government wants to reduce the financial pressure on the clinics. The health policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group, Florian Wahl, warned in the broadcast that if the mediation committee were called, the law could no longer come into force before the federal election in autumn 2025 – in his view that would be a “catastrophe”.
