Lastra a Signa (Florence), 7 January 2021 – Due to the bad weather a retaining wall of the Fi-Pi-Li has yielded at the height of Lastra a Signa, creating problems in via di Carcheri, in the municipality of the Lastrigiano, which was closed in a stretch, while on the freeway the carriageway towards Florence was closed and the two-way traffic system was established in the opposite one towards the sea.
This was announced by the municipal administration that yesterday had already recorded problems caused by bad weather due to a landslide on the SS 67 Tosco Romagnola.
This morning, explains a note, the mayor Angela Bagni and the deputy mayor Leonardo Cappellini they carried out an inspection in the area affected by the fall of large boulders from the hill on the carriageway of the Tosco Romagnola. Anas technicians intervened again to carry out further checks on the stability of the hills and announced that the works to secure the area will start on Monday 11 January.
“I understand the discomfort of many citizens for the closure of Tosco Romognola – explained the mayor -, and for this reason already this morning I contacted the representatives of the metropolitan city to activate solutions regarding local public transport, also in view of the reopening of high schools next Monday. I also contacted the prefecture to communicate the emergency and the problems connected with the closure of such an important connecting road between our territory and the whole Empolese Valdelsa “.
In the evening Eugenio Giani carried out an inspection together with the mayor Bagni. “Tomorrow (Friday, ed) unfortunately will be a day of great discomfort in traffic – wrote Giani on social media – because the FI-PI-LI will only move in the two lanes of carriageway destined from Florence to the sea. There will be no alternative road network for heavy vehicles because the complete closure of the tosco romagnola prevents compensation solutions. Together with the Mayor Bagni we have seen both landslides caused by bad weather and we have made the commitment to call the technicians to assess the damage from tomorrow morning at 8 and the necessary interventions to restore circulation “.
