(ANSA) – ROME, 02 OCT – The vast perturbed system that is affecting the northern regions of Italy will extend tomorrow to part of the central regions, with widespread rainfall, including storms and a strengthening of the winds that will also involve the southern regions and Sicily. The Department of Civil Protection has therefore issued a further warning of adverse weather conditions, which extends the one released yesterday.
For today and tomorrow, in particular, there is a red alert on some sectors of Liguria, Lombardy and Veneto. For the day tomorrow, the orange alert was assessed in Trentino Alto Adige and in part of Valle d’Aosta, Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Liguria, Emilia Romagna. Furthermore, the yellow alert was assessed in Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio, Abruzzo and on some sectors of Valle d’Aosta, Piedmont, Lombardy, Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Emilia-Romagna, Basilicata, Calabria and Puglia.
The weather alert then provides from today’s evening winds from strong to storm, from the southern quadrants, on Umbria, Abruzzo, Molise, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily, with gusts up to strong storms on the Apennine ridges and the hills of Sicily. In addition, storm surges are expected along the exposed coasts. From the early morning of tomorrow, October 3, rainfall with a prevalent downpour or thunderstorm character is expected on Umbria and Lazio. Furthermore, from late tomorrow morning, the persistence of precipitation, predominantly of a downpour or thunderstorm, is expected in Friuli Venezia Giulia. The phenomena will be accompanied by strong showers, frequent electrical activity, local hailstorms and strong gusts of wind.
