Bad weather: more rain in Fvg, flooding and falling trees

(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 08 OCT – The bad weather front is affecting the entire region in these hours with the wind having weakened and moving towards the south and rain which in the next few hours will mainly affect Carnia, the Julian Pre-Alps and the eastern band of the region with cumulative rainfall which should generally be abundant, at most locally intense. This is the regional alert from the Fvg Civil Protection issued at 11pm. Between two and three in the morning on Wednesday the front will leave the region, accompanied by south-westerly winds on the ground, resulting in a clear reduction in rainfall across the entire region. Meanwhile, the Regional Operations Room has received reports of flooding in some municipalities in the Pordenone foothills (Montereale Valcellina, Maniago, Polcenigo and Frisanco, Trasaghis in the province of Udine and in the province of Trieste in the municipality of San Dorligo della Valle). Trees fell in Sequals and Cordovado while the Murlis and Rauscedo fords remain closed; the SP 22 of the “Val Cosa” closed at the height of the Clauzetto landslide. There has been an increase in the reference hydrometric levels in the watercourses, in particular for the Livenza Basin. The Meduna river plain service has been activated; as regards the Tagliamento Basin, the Venzone hydrometer reached the value of 2.00 meters at 10.45 pm, exceeding the warning level and is increasing. As already mentioned previously, in Piancavallo total rainfall amounts of 350 mm were recorded (an event that happens more rarely than once every 30 years), 260 of which in 6 hours, 60 in one hour. The sirocco also caused storm surges on the lagoon but in conjunction with low tide. (HANDLE).
