Bad weather causes delays in shipping vaccines to NYC

Bad weather across the country is causing delays in the shipment of coronavirus vaccines.

The city expected a new shipment earlier this week, but officials said those doses will not arrive until Sunday.

Governor Andrew Cuomo confirmed the delay due to the snowfall.

“The federal government has informed New York that nearly all of the COVID-19 vaccine doses allocated for week 10, which were scheduled to be delivered between February 12-21, are being delayed due to continuing winter storms. affecting much of the country, “Cuomo said.

“Doses that should have been shipped on Monday were withheld, and only a limited number of Pfizer vaccines left the shipping facility on Tuesday and Wednesday,” the governor added.

The vaccination center at the Empire Outlets mall on Staten Island, which was scheduled to open Thursday, will do so today.

While the vaccination center at Martin Van Buren High School, in Queens, will now open through Sunday.

Additionally, the city government announced a new website where New Yorkers can schedule their inoculation appointments at non-government locations.

This includes locations managed by Northwell Health, Capsule Pharmacies, and the Hospital for Special Surgeries.

The portal is available in multiple languages.
