Bad weather Cassandra started to hit Western Greece.
In Corfu, problems are created by the severe weather phenomena that hit the island from 6:30 in the afternoon.
Heavy storms have caused flooding in the old town and branches have fallen from trees onto roads, with the Fire Service working feverishly to clear the streets.
In particular, two trees fell from the strong winds in the area of Benitsa, while roads in the area of Pyli tis Spilia have already been flooded.
A while ago, the reception of a large hotel in the tourist village of Messongi was flooded.
Flight problems
Due to the storm, the Aegean flight 286 Athens-Corfu was impossible to reach the airport and returns to El. Venizelos, while other flights seem to be facing problems as well.
According to corfutvnews.gr, two foreign flights were also unable to land at the island’s airport.
Thesprotia is without electricity
Problems in various parts of the road network in the Municipality Friendsbut also in the electricity and fixed telephony networks created by the severe weather that affects the region. It happened an hour ago power outagethe area was plunged into darkness, while the phones are not working.
In the Sagiada Lane, near the fish farms, rocks fell on the road surface, while large quantities of transported materials and soil blocked the road to Filiates just before the town.
The Municipality’s crews with two machines are working to restore traffic. Small flooding phenomena are observed near the square of Filiaton, where the water entered ground floor shops.
The Fire Department removed large branches from plane trees near the village of Dafni.
Besides, at 19:50 a message was sent from 112 for the area of the Municipality of Filiaton Thesprotia recommending to the citizens to limit their movements and to follow the instructions of the Authorities.

The weather tomorrow
Heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecast until the afternoon of Saturday 10/5 in the west and from the midday hours in the northeast.
Clouds with rain and storms in western Sterea, western Peloponnese and the southernmost islands of the Ionian and from the midday hours in eastern Macedonia, Thrace and the easternmost parts of central Macedonia.
The effects will be strong in places until the afternoon hours in the west and until the evening in the northeast. In the rest of the country, a few clouds that will gradually increase and there will be local rains and possible isolated storms.
The winds will blow south southwest 3 to 5 and in the northern Aegean locally 6 Beaufort. From the afternoon in the west they will turn to westerlies of 3 to 4 Beaufort.
The temperature will drop slightly in the west and the north in terms of its maximum values, where it will reach 26 to 27 degrees and in the rest of the regions 28 to 30 degrees Celsius.
MACEDONIA, THRACE
Weather: In western Macedonia cloudy with local rains and improvement from the evening. In the remaining few clouds that will quickly increase and there will be local rains and sporadic storms. The effects will be strong in places from the midday hours until the evening in eastern Macedonia, Thrace and the easternmost parts of central Macedonia.
Winds: Variable 2 to 4 and in the east south 4 to 5 Beaufort.

IONIAN ISLANDS, EPIROS, WEST STEREA, WEST PELOPONNISOS
Weather: Temporarily increased clouds with local rains and sporadic thunderstorms. The effects will be locally strong until the afternoon in western Sterea, western Peloponnese and the southernmost Ionian islands.
Winds: From south directions 3 to 5 Beaufort. From the afternoon they will turn to westerlies of 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 12 to 27 degrees Celsius. In the interior of Epirus the maximum is 3 to 4 degrees lower.
EASTERN STEREA, EVIA, EASTERN PELOPONNISOS
Weather: Temporarily increased clouds, with local rains and isolated storms. Since evening improvement.
Winds: South southwest 3 to 5 Beaufort and from the evening westerly with the same intensity.
Temperature: From 17 to 30 degrees Celsius.
CYCLADES, CRETE
Weather: A few clouds that will gradually increase and from the afternoon there will be local rain in the west.

Temperature: From 19 to 29 and in Crete up to 30 degrees Celsius.
EAST AEGEAN ISLANDS – DODECANISE
Weather: Generally sunny in the Dodecanese. In the islands of the eastern Aegean, a few clouds that will gradually increase and from the evening there will be local rains and isolated storms.
Winds: From south directions 4 to 6 and in the Dodecanese west northwest 3 to 4 Beaufort.
Temperature: From 20 to 29 degrees Celsius.
