Bad trip causes a surprising turn in Bureau Hofstad

The abandoned car looks like someone suddenly jumped out of the vehicle. The police also find all kinds of strange notes inside, which indicate that the owner is in a confused state. Because the car is close to the train track, the police fear that she may be planning to commit suicide. While they are investigating, they receive a notification. Coincidentally, it turns out that a friend of the car owner called the police that same day, because she has not been able to reach the woman for several days. There is therefore a unit in front of her house, which is also not heard.

The police know through the woman’s girlfriend that she had taken MDMA four days earlier at a party, which she often does. This time, however, the drug turns out to be completely wrong and the woman gets a so-called ‘bad trip’. Because the woman continues to behave confused in the days that follow and suddenly does not hear from her anymore, her friend informs the police. He decides to look for the woman near the car, initially with little success.

Not much later, the police receive a report that the woman has been spotted dancing in front of the House of Representatives in a confused state. The fact that she is standing before the House of Representatives makes the situation a lot more urgent: it is precisely here that the consequences of a strange one-man action can be great. The officers speak to the woman and it soon becomes apparent that she is indeed very confused. She tells an incoherent story about Prime Minister Mark Rutte and the devil, who allegedly caused her to flee from her car.

Ewout is clearly shocked by the state of the woman. “She looks very confused and she looks like she’s used something again,” he tells the camera. The woman is eventually checked in an ambulance and then taken to the confused shelter. Ewout explains that the situation has been a real eye-opener for him. “I have never seen someone who has a party on Sunday with drugs and four days later walks in like this. And she looks so young and well-groomed. It’s actually very sad.”

The woman appears to have spent a night in the shelter and is referred to her doctor for further help, says the voice-over of the program.

Incidentally, it is certainly not the first violent incident that Ewout experiences in his programs.
