NEW YORK – Authorities found a man dead inside an apartment with a plastic bag over his head in the Bronx, New York City Police said.

According to the police report, the discovery occurred on April 7, at about 7:51 p.m., when the police responded to a 9-1-1 call about a bad smell coming from an apartment at 1146 Ogden Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified individual on the ground unconscious and with a plastic bag over his head.

Paramedics pronounced the person dead, the report said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the exact cause of death. The investigation is still ongoing at this time.
