Do you have a Viaplay subscription and are you dissatisfied with the quality of the Formula 1 streams? Then you are not alone. Viaplay customers should receive compensation from the Consumers’ Association due to the poor image quality of the Formula 1 streams. The company is obliged to do so under European law. The Consumers’ Association has given Viaplay a week to come up with a compensation proposal for its customers. The Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM) has also informed the Swedish regulator that it will press for a solution for Dutch customers.

Numerous complaints: poor image quality and stuttering streams
It has been raining complaints about Viaplay’s Formula 1 streams for months. Also this weekend – during the Monaco Grand Prix – the social media were again full of it. Many subscribers complain about lower image quality, stuttering streams or streams that drop out.

Both the ACM and the Consumers’ Association also receive many complaints about the poor accessibility of customer service.

Viaplay has promised the Consumers’ Association that it will respond to all complaints on Klachtenkompas. The company also states that it cannot say when the problems will be resolved.

Consumers’ Association: “More clarity about compensation within a week”
Spokesperson Gerard Spierenburg of the Consumers’ Association: “We have informed Viaplay that we expect the company to compensate customers and that they will be more accessible to consumers. We want to hear from Viaplay within a week what they are going to do.”

Kassa has also tried to get a response from Viaplay. For the time being, the Dutch spokesperson cannot indicate whether or not it will compensate customers. A response from the head office in Stockholm may follow later today.
