The US could announce a new military aid package for Ukraine on Wednesday, which will include air-to-surface missiles for the F-16 fighter jets, Voice of America reports.
According to media sources, the total price of the weapons included in the new package will reach 375 million dollars. This is the largest package for Ukraine from the US since May.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told reporters that the package would include missiles for the F-16 to attack ground targets. These missiles will allow the Ukrainian F-16s to operate far from the front line and Russian air defense systems.
In addition, as VoA sources specify, the package will include shells for HIMARS, patrol boats and armored vehicles, as well as 105- and 155-mm shells and TOW missiles.
Such assistance would be provided under the President’s arms reduction authority. In this case, they will be provided to Ukraine from the US stockpile.
