Many cinemas were forced to close in the spring in the fight against the corona virus, but since they reopened, hardly any major films have been released. One of the only blockbuster that tried it was Christopher Nolan’s “Tenet”. But the big income failed to materialize. Hence, many studios postpone re-releases until people feel safe again.
The lack of major crowd pullers makes it difficult for cinemas to survive. British Cineworld said in a letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson that the film industry is now “unlivable”. There are 5,500 jobs at risk.
