After South Korea fell to Brazil in the final price of the Qatar 2022 World Cup, captain Heung-min Son has apologized for his country’s tough exit from the FIFA World Cup.
The ‘Taegeuk Warriors’ failed to defeat the ‘samba dancers’, who scored four goals in the first half before substitute Baek Sung-ho scored a goal with fifteen minutes remaining.
Korea, who have reached the knockout stages for the third time, were hoping for a surprise, as they did at home in 2002 when they toppled Italy and Spain in the round of 16 and quarter-finals respectively, before falling to the machines German in the fourth quarter.
“I can only apologize to our fans that we didn’t live up to expectations,” said Son, who played in Qatar wearing a mask following surgery immediately after suffering a fracture around his eye.
And he continued in an interview with reporters: “We gave our all, but I think we played a difficult game. But there is no doubt that all the players fought proudly and gave their all and worked hard to get there. here”.
