Bad data from the Canary Islands drag Lanzarote and La Graciosa to level 2 | BE Lanzarote

The islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa have returned to COVID alert level 2 as decided by the Governing Council of the Canary Islands at its meeting this Thursday. The Minister of Health, Blas Trujillo, has communicated the pass to level 4 of Tenerife (although with restrictions quite different from those that Lanzarote and La Graciosa had in their day) in addition to the rest of the changes leaving the island of El Hierro as the only one which stays at level 1.

Despite having the lowest cumulative incidence (AI) of the entire Archipelago, even less than El Hierro, the Canary Islands Government has raised Lanzarote and La Graciosa to the orange traffic light just 21 days after having passed from level 2 to 1, on July 1. This decision has been adopted on the same day that active cases have decreased on the Lanzarote island.

Regarding the level 2 measurements, for example, closes at 0:00 h. for hotel and catering establishments, the limitation of 50% capacity inside the premises with a maximum occupancy of four people per table and six people if it is on outdoor terraces where, in any case, there is a limitation capacity of 75%.

The levels established this Thursday will be maintained at least until next August 5 when they will be reviewed again by the Governing Council, apart from the fact that a new review would be carried out beforehand if it is estimated that it is necessary to make any changes.
