Imagine walking the streets of your city and meeting Puerto Rican singer Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio –better known as Bad Bunny–; so try to take a picture with him, but ask the artist himself to take your cell phone and throw it into the water.
It’s not a joke. It happened to a fan from the Dominican Republic who, thrilled to see “the artist of the moment”, quickly took out her cell phone, stood next to the interpreter of marmoset asked me and started taking pictures — maybe a video — and Bad Bunny picked it up and quickly threw it into a nearby body of water.
The event was filmed by another of those present and sparked a wave of criticism of the singer on social media; although there were also many people who defended him, arguing that “the artist must also have an intimate life”.
In response to this fact, Bad Bunny sent a message via his Twitter account, a little annoyed judging by his own words:
“The person who comes to me to say hello, to tell me something, or simply to get to know me, will always receive my attention and my respect. Whoever comes and throws a fucking phone in my face I will consider it for what it is, a lack of respect and I will treat it the same way “.
The message was accompanied by the following hashtag: #SINCOJONESMETIENE
Internet users reversed the tweet, assuring that Bad Bunny “has a lot to do to be a leader like Daddy Yankee is”; “the gesture is arrogant and inconsiderate”; “Have you forgotten what it’s like to not have money to replace a cell phone”; “what arrogance and desire for attention”.
So far Benito has not commented on this fact. It is also unknown whether he will offer a public apology or repair the damage caused to the fan’s mobile phone.
It is worth mentioning that, in 2020, 2021 and now 2022, the Puerto Rican singer has been crowned the most streamed artist on the Spotify platform, as revealed by the company in a Press release.
“No other artist has accomplished this feat before, so to celebrate, we’ve turned the heart button on Spotify into the singer’s,” Spotify said in its statement. It is the symbol that characterizes his latest studio album: A summer without you.
