Bad Bunny made a great return to the Billboard Latin Music Awards this Thursday by winning artist of the year and presenting a new song live for the first time.

“Since I began my career I always had a vision, which people did not understand, and that was that Latin music could be at the top, above any music in the entire world,” said the Puerto Rican star when collecting the main prize of the night. “And today, what do you tell me? “Not just me but all my colleagues.”
It is the fourth consecutive year in which Bad Bunny triumphs in the artist of the year category, which he won for the first time in 2020.

The Ojitos Lindos singer also won the category of song of the year, sales for his hit “Tití me asked” from his album ‘Un Verano sin ti’”. Later, Bad Bunny arrived in socks and sportswear to receive the Global 200 Latin Artist of the Year award.

“I was changing for the presentation,” she explained of her unusual outfit. He asked on stage what prize he had won and despite the rush, the audience applauded him. “Thank you, I make music because I love it and because it is my passion, so thank you for accepting what I do,” he said upon receiving his second award of the night.

Finally, it was time for Bad Bunny to perform a medley of his hits including “Moscow Mule,” “Tití Me Asked,” and “Where She Goes” as well as the first live performance of “Un Preview.” The audience did not stop singing with him in his first musical participation at the awards in four years.
Meanwhile, the Mexican star Peso Pluma won the category of artist of the year, debut.

“Thank you very much to all my fans,” said the artist. “Many thanks to my best friend Jasiel Nuñez who is here with me, to my entire team and to everyone who has collaborated with me this year, thank you for making this possible, up to Mexico!”
Peso Pluma and Nicki Nicole performed their song “Por las nochees.” The artist, originally from the state of Jalisco, returned to a second musical number with Yng Lvcas to perform his hit “La bebe.”
This was one of Peso Pluma’s first public appearances after receiving threats in the city of Tijuana that led to the cancellation of some of his live performances in Mexico. Despite this, he was cheerful at all times.
In one of the first awards of the ceremony, Peso Pluma and Eslabón Armado triumphed in the “Hot Latin Song” category, song of the year for “Ella baila sola.”
“This is for Mexico!” said Pedro Tovar.

Karol G went on stage accompanied by the director of the foundation, Valentina Bueno, for whom she asked for applause.
“This is probably one of the most special awards I will receive during my entire career,” said Karol G. “We have incredible projects of which you are also a part because of what we do in tickets, in record sales “We direct everything here, so you are all part of this family too.”
Karol G also won in the “Top Latin Album” of the year category for her popular “Mañana will be nice.”
Yandel presented Puerto Rican reggaeton pioneer Ivy Queen with the Billboard Icon Award for her contributions to Latin music. Ivy Queen said that urban music taught her not to sell her essence.
“This is a genre that also taught me to embrace my masculine part, because when I started in this genre I had to battle with males and not with females,” said the star known as La Cabalota.
“You don’t know the immense pride I feel knowing that there are more women on stage because I say that I did my job as it should be,” added the artist who dedicated her award to her daughter Naiovy.

Los Ángeles Azules were honored with the Billboard Artistic Career Award. The Mexican cumbia group presented a medley of their hits including “How I Will Forget” and “Mis Sentiments” with Nicki Nicole, Ximena Sariñana and Sofía Reyes. And they thanked those who have supported them for more than 40 years of experience in which they have carried their romantic music.
“From Iztapalapa to the world!” said the composer of the group Elías Porfirio Mejía Avante, alias “El Doc.”
Chiquis, Caliber 50 and Los Sebastianes paid tribute to “La Diva de la Banda” Jenni Rivera, mother of Chiquis, a decade after her death, in which they performed some of her characteristic songs such as “Inolvidable” and “Ya lo Sé ”.
Justin Quiles and El Alfa premiered their song “Fiesta loca”. Myke Towers sang his hit “Lala” as well as “Borracho y loco” with Yandel. Grupo Frontera, Olga Tañón, also had live performances, as did Marc Anthony and Pepe Aguilar, who premiered their song “ojala te duela”.
Jacky Bracamontes and Danilo Carrera were the masters of ceremony for the awards broadcast live from Coral Gables, Florida.
