JAKARTA – LinkedIn user data is reportedly leaked. As many as 500 million LinkedIn user profiles were found to be sold online on hacker forums.

Findings CyberNews said, in a sample of 2 million LinkedIn profiles that were sold online, it was seen that there was a user’s full name, email address, telephone number, gender, and other data.
LinkedIn itself says that the data includes information from many places and not all of them are taken from its social networks.
“We are still investigating the matter, the posted data set appears to include publicly viewable information taken from LinkedIn combined with data collected from other websites or companies,” said a LinkedIn spokesperson. The Verge, Friday (9/4).
The social networking company owned by Microsoft said that no member personal data was included. This means that LinkedIn suspects that the data it collects includes only information that can be seen on someone’s public page.

LinkedIn also stated that this incident was not a LinkedIn data breach that involved hackers penetrating the company’s systems.
LinkedIn also cannot do anything for users whose data is sold on the internet.
