Bacteria in the mouth can trigger sinusitis, here’s how to prevent it

TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – It is widely reported that bacteria in teeth can cause heart disease.

But apparently not only that, bacteria in the mouth can also cause sinusitis.

This was revealed by a dentist who is a conservation dentist practicing at the Pondok Indah hospital’s specialist dental clinic, drg. Hanny Ilanda, Sp.KG.

The maxillary sinus is the largest sinus cavity located under the eyes and above the maxillary molars.

The sinuses are pairs of empty spaces that connect to the nasal cavity.

The roots of the maxillary molars are usually very close to the floor of the maxillary sinus. Indeed, in some cases, there are those whose roots are fused with the floor of the maxillary sinus.

The anatomical location that causes tooth infection to extend to the root can cause sinusitis.

Conversely, inflammation that occurs in the sinuses will cause pain in the underlying teeth.

If this condition has occurred, it is not only necessary to carry out dental treatment, but also accompanied by the treatment of sinusitis with antibiotic therapy and supportive drugs.
