The court annulled the measure of remand “in custody” and did not impose another on Ilko Zahariev, who became known as the Red Pirate. Thus, he should be released within three days, if the court’s decision is not appealed.
“The people I’m locked in with are below my level. They bully me, talk elementary nonsense, make fun of me. They watch TV, but I don’t,” said Zahariev, quoted by Nova.
According to the court, the accused is the author of numerous e-mails – to the prosecutor’s office, the Ministry of the Interior or others. Addressed remarks to persons known to be publicly known. Or against those who are known to be publicly known in recent months, finding a place in publications and television shows.
It is considered that the accused does not have a real goal to carry out an act against the listed persons, but wants to address dissatisfaction with political events in the country. Or he aims to gain some public fame.
“The manner used may not be socially acceptable, but it is not sufficient to assume that he is committing a crime. The statement used points to a similar conclusion. Incoherent expressions and insulting lines towards different persons. The measure imposed on him should be canceled and no other measure should be taken,” the court’s decision reads.
