Back to the old place of work: Jonas Thümmler moves from Rostock to Dresden | news

HC Elbflorenz Dresden will welcome a well-known face back to Dresden for the new season: Jonas Thümmler. The 29-year-old pivot will move from HC Empor Rostock to Dresden after the season and has signed a two-year contract. From 2019 to 2021, Thümmler already wore the tiger of HC Elbflorenz on his chest.

Sporting director Karsten Wöhler is happy about the new signing: “Jonas had a successful time with us and already knows the club and our game. So I hope it will be easy for him to get back here quickly. He’s still one of the best pivots in the league, so we’re delighted he’ll be back for the new season.”

Born in Berlin, he enjoyed his handball training with the Füchsen Berlin in his home country and also took his first step into the men’s field there. From 2014 to 2019 he then played for HC Erlangen before moving from the 1st division to HC Elbflorenz and signing a contract with the Elbstadt team for the first time.

Head coach Rico Göde is also happy to have Thümmler back in the team: “We are very happy that Thümmi is coming back. We weren’t the only ones who wanted to sign him. He has enormous quality around circles, especially when receiving and converting the ball. In addition, he is intelligent in the game and knows how to occupy spaces and support the backcourt with blocks. Another big factor in bringing him back is that we know him as a player who has strong opinions and has always been a “speaker” with the aim of helping the team and progressing. Welcome back Thummi.”

In the two seasons from 2019 to 2021, Thümmler scored 159 goals for HC Elbflorenz. He then moved north to HC Empor Rostock. From there he will now return to Dresden.

Jonas Thümmler himself said when he signed his contract with HC Elbflorenz: “I’m really happy to be back in Dresden. It is well known that Dresden is an unbelievably beautiful city and has a lot of potential in terms of sport, and that is why I am looking forward to the challenge that awaits me next season. I’m also looking forward to seeing many familiar faces, the fans and the team. It was always a lot of fun for me to run into the BallsportARENA and fight for two points with the fans.”
