Zapping Autonews racing Automotive: the concepts of the year 2020
The Renault team will become Alpine next season. Whatever its name, when you think of the French team, it is impossible not to make the link with Fernando Alonso. The two are closely linked, following the 4 seasons spent together, but also because the Spanish rider will return to the circuits at Alpine next season.
Not to mention that it is with Renault that El Matador won its two world championship titles in 2005 and 2006, the only two of the French team also as a manufacturer.
Renault will celebrate its heritage with a remarkable demonstration run in Abu Dhabi this weekend linking past, present & future. @alo_oficial will be reunited with his championship-winning 2005 R25 car ahead of his 2021 return.

Fernando Alonso back behind the wheel of his R25, it will revive memories for some. Of course, the Spaniard won’t be competing in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but he will be there, in preparation for next season.
Even though it took more than 50 hours to get the propellant back up and running, Renault really wanted to say goodbye to Formula 1 with the fashion. What better way to do this than putting the victorious 2005 single-seater back on its wheels with its driver behind the wheel.
