On the occasion of the beginning of the 2022-2023 school year, a delegation from the municipality of Anglet (Atlantic Pyrenees) met at the Évariste-Galois kindergarten at the end of August 2022. This was an opportunity for Claude Olive, mayor of the city, to reconsider the investments made within the plant. In total 850,000 euros were mobilized to make the school accessible. The operation took place over two years. In the first phase of the works carried out in 2021, the main entrance was enlarged and the sanitary block was rehabilitated. A shelter and an access ramp for people with reduced mobility (PRM) were also installed. The second phase, carried out in the summer of 2022, focused on the work to adapt the safety and fire access standards.
The municipal delegation also took advantage of the meeting to review the agreements made in other school groups. In the Aristide-Briand school, the external square has been redesigned. The work made it possible to secure access and create an unloading area as well as pedestrian paths suitable for people with reduced mobility. As regards the Justin-Larrebat primary school, a budget of 870,000 euros has been allocated for the adaptation of the building to the standards of fire safety, accessibility and thermal insulation. The construction site should continue until 2024.
