Back-to-School in Colomiers: Over 136 Classes Welcoming 3,281 Students, With School Refurbishments

It’s back-to-school time. When the bell rings in the various buildings of the Hélène Boucher school group, the tumult of the playground stops. In rows of two by two, the kindergarten classes already know the song. For the new ones, the small sections, on the other hand, you have to get up to speed. Learning the different instructions will take a while.

A few meters from the different classes and young schoolchildren, Karine Traval-Michelet, mayor of Colomiers, also answered the call. “We can’t go around all the school groups, that’s for sure. But it is important to come and meet the educational staff and the children, ”says the elected official.

Over 136 classes across the city

The city of Colomiers welcomes many students each year, which must be distributed in different establishments. For this new school year, 1,147 kindergarten students are expected. 46 classes will welcome them. As for the elementary school, there are more than 2,134 students. They will be distributed in all in 90 classes. In all, there are therefore 136 classes of schoolchildren in Colomiers.

“What is positive is that the average number of students in a class is rather low,” explains Catherine Clouscard-Martinato, Assistant in charge of Education. For primary classes, on average, there are less than 25 children. Same observation with regard to mothers, ”welcomes the assistant.

The elected officials wanted to tour different school groups, especially those who have been the subject of various works this summer. Between the installation of the various ceiling fans, but also CO2 sensors, the mayor and her deputy wanted to see all the new installations.
