The United States is finalizing a plan to send a Patriot anti-aircraft missile system to Ukraine, Reuters reported, citing three senior government officials. According to them, the decision could be announced this week.

Formal approval of the plan by US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and President Joe Biden is still awaited.
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has specifically warned NATO not to supply Ukraine with the Patriot, and Moscow is likely to view this as an escalation.
It is not yet clear how many rocket launchers will be sent. A typical Patriot system includes a radar that detects and tracks targets, computers, generators, a control station, and up to 8 missile launchers, each with four missiles ready to fire.
