In 2018, back number held a dome tour “back number dome tour 2018 “stay with you”” in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka, but “in your humor tour 2023” will be their first time visiting the five major domes. March 18th and 19th at Kyocera Dome Osaka, April 1st and 2nd at Vantelin Dome in Nagoya, Hokkaido on April 8th at Sapporo Dome, Tokyo on April 15th and 16th at Tokyo Dome on April 22nd. Standing at the Fukuoka PayPay Dome on the 23rd, he delivered plenty of songs that have colored his career, centering on the songs from his latest album “Humor”. In this article, we will report on the Tokyo Dome performance on the 16th.
The Kanto region was hit by a thunderstorm in the afternoon due to unstable atmospheric conditions. Under the ever-changing weather conditions, a wide range of back number fans, regardless of age or gender, flock to Tokyo Dome one after another. As the audience waited impatiently for the start of the performance, as the power went out, silhouettes of people, trees, and birds were projected one after another on the seven huge screens on the main stage. Iyori Shimizu (Vo, G), Kazuya Kojima (B, Cho), and Hisashi Kurihara (Dr) entered the stage at the same time as the foggy light gathered in the center of the screen. Shimizu took a deep breath and performed a passage of “I love you” while Kojima and Kurihara carefully layered the sounds, creating a wave of excitement throughout the dome. What changed the warm mood was the fast-paced rock tune “Daily Incorrect”. The audience clapped their hands rhythmically as bright laser lights ran through the venue. In the following “SISTER”, Shimizu mixed shouts and falsetto with a fresh vocal.
When the enthusiastic cheers rose from all over the dome, Shimizu responded with a loud voice, “It’s really reassuring. Thank you so much!” I look forward to working with you,” he promised his fans. And when the intro of the familiar “Christmas song” began, the audience cheered. The audience listened intently, as if intoxicated by the lyrics depicting a single-minded love and the glittering sound. Once again, Shimizu looked around the full audience and said, “This is really amazing, amazing. You can only say ‘amazing’ and ‘really’… you don’t have the vocabulary!” Speaking to the audience on board, he said, “I felt that they were reaching out with great concentration, so I’m playing with the feeling that I’m leaving them one by one.” Kurihara also said, “Aren’t you tired of flying so much? The excitement is amazing. The feeling of performing together is just amazing.” I want to turn it up and make today’s live a special day, but can I still do it?” The energetic members released their accumulated power with upper tunes such as “Emerald”, which features a noisy guitar, and “Hero Suit”, which has a gorgeous sound.
Receiving the intense heat from the audience, Kojima responded, “Most importantly! If we were only performing in the studio, we wouldn’t have had a live like this, so I’m really happy.” When Kurihara exaggeratedly exaggerated, “Huh? Is there something behind the arena seats?” Arriving at the sub-stage at the back of the arena, Shimizu said, “It’s a cycle of energy. We’re receiving it from everyone, and we’re giving it back with music, so it’s really comfortable,” he said, facing Kojima and Kurihara. When I said again, “I also want people to see the everyday form of making songs in the studio,” he made eye contact with Kojima and Kurihara many times, and composed “heroine” and “letter” acoustically. played in
When the members returned to the main stage, the screen showed a video from the driver’s point of view running on the highway. When “Silent Journey in Tokyo” started with the sound of dynamic percussion as a cue, lights like headlights illuminated the audience seats in time with the song, and the scenery from the driver’s seat changed in various ways. Also, as if to accelerate the momentum towards the end of the live, when “Hanako Takamine” was dropped, the audience applauded and shook their bodies while surrendering themselves to the sound. Sentimental love songs such as “Akai Hanabi” and “Yellow” were delivered as if to cancel out the lively mood, and a quiet afterglow spread throughout the venue. In “Horizontal”, which can be said to have been a big turning point for back number, Shimizu improvised the lyrics after humming, and let out a powerful singing voice as if to send cheers to the people.
While receiving a big round of applause, Shimizu said, “When I got back from Okayama on the sleeper train, I remembered the time before the CD was released. I came from Gunma to Tokyo by car, and I couldn’t do a good live, so no one thought about it. I was unfaithful and said, “I hate Tokyo.” I cried when I couldn’t sing properly at live performances, and sometimes blamed others and wondered, “What are you doing?” “We just worked hard to make a good song for a long time. So to be honest, right now it feels like we’re in a dream. If you wake up tomorrow and say, ‘It was a dream,’ I’ll understand.” Back Number is a great band.” People who buy our talent will support us, so let’s do our best. I’m scared, but I’m going to go on stage and sing.I’m still full of anxiety, but if I can sing with everyone, I’ll remember later and become a little stronger. If you know someone, please sing along with me.” With tears in his eyes, he expressed his overflowing feelings. And the members performed “Velvet no Uta” as if they were repeating their music life so far. In response to their dedicated performance, the fans sang warmly. At the end of the main part, Shimizu shouts the title “When I become a superstar” and at the same time, a silver tape is fired, and a bouncy rock sound echoes throughout the dome. At the end of the song, Shimizu shouted, “I love you!”
The encore kicked off with a short tune “Suddenly Chance to Sleep Together” with an impressive rich chorus. Kurihara, who listened to the tight drumming, said with a sunny expression, “I’ve never heard of being so tired! I’ve never felt so tired.” Shimizu called out to the fans, “We love making songs, and we can’t stop doing live performances. We’re still doing it as usual, laughing and laughing, so if you don’t mind, please come see us.” The members received a big round of applause, and closed the 3-hour live performance with “Bouquet”, which made the back number famous, and “Kaito”, which is full of liberation. The performance will be broadcast and distributed on WOWOW in July.
