Hailey Merkt took part in the cult format “The Bachelor” in the USA in 2017. Now she has died of leukemia at the age of 31.
The sad news of the death of “Bachelor” participant Hailey Merkt (†31) shocked her family and fans. The young woman succumbed to her difficult battle with cancer at just 31 years of age.
“It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you that our beloved Hailey has passed away after her courageous fight for life,” reads a post on the 31-year-old’s Instagram page. It continues: “Hailey faced this journey with unimaginable strength, grace and selflessness.” Followers can also see a series of photos with happy moments from the reality TV star’s life.
Hailey Merkt dies after serious illness
According to an Instagram post, Hailey Merkt died last Friday. She rose to fame through her participation in the 21st season of the US show “Bachelor” in 2017. In the show, the participants competed for the affection of Nick Viall, who is now 43 years old. Although she did not find her life partner in him, Merkt always maintained her positive attitude and regularly shared insights into her life on Instagram.
Following her leukemia diagnosis in October, she shared a picture from the hospital of herself smiling during treatment and captioned it: “A rare moment of me smiling during treatment.” However, her social media profiles have been quieter over the past six months.
“I am so grateful to have met and loved you”
The deceased’s profile will remain public for a while to keep her memory alive. In the comments, fans use the opportunity to remember the young woman: “I am so happy to have known your laugh and I am so grateful to have met and loved you – the truest, warmest and most beautiful soul in the strangest places.
