Since the separation from long-term choir director Alois Glaßner, the Bach choir has been looking for bosses. A possible candidate could be assessed at work at the end of April.
Gordon Hamilton is young, dynamic – and a candidate for the job of artistic director of the Salzburg Bach Choir. The Australian is due to conduct the first concert in the “Chorage” series on April 27th. “We’ll see who suits us and who does the Bach choir suit?” Said board member Johannes Feigl on Wednesday. The choir has been without a leading figure since the separation from long-time director Alois Glaßner in June 2020. This fact was not noticed in the corona year, of 30 planned concerts only five could actually be realized. “Economically, the Bach choir has not lost much thanks to the funding instruments of the federal government,” says managing director Gregor Faistauer. The next appearance in front of an audience is to take place at the Easter Festival, instead of “Turandot” the Mozart Requiem is on the program. Further dates are planned for the Whitsun Festival and in the Brucknerhaus. The search for the rehearsal room could come to an end: the Bach choir should be able to use rooms in the future new Mozarteum building next to the Paracelsusbad.
