Tutberidze called on Bach to apologize for the words about the treatment of Valieva
Eteri Tutberidze believes that the episode of their communication with Kamila Valieva that got into the broadcast does not reflect their relationship. The coach said that the skater, because of the doping scandal, “stayed aside” from everyone and you can’t hug someone who doesn’t want to

Eteri Tutberidze’s coach interview L’Equipe called unfair the words of the head of the IOC, Thomas Bach, that she “coldly” treated figure skater Kamila Valieva after her failure in the individual tournament at the Beijing Olympics.
Valieva, after a doping scandal at the Olympics, made several gross mistakes in the free program and was left without a medal in personal competitions. Bach stated the following day: “I saw how coldly the coaches greeted her from the ice. They did not create comfort for her, they spoke to her very coldly. It just shocked me.”
Tutberidze explained that Valieva at that time “kept a little aloof” and you can’t hug someone who doesn’t want to.
“And the problem is not that she failed. On the other hand, we have no right to give up. I just asked her (after the performance) why she refused the second element. She just refused to fight. In addition, the Olympic Games are a holiday. Many athletes dream of being in her place. I can not stand the tantrums of athletes. Then we sat together for a long time in the locker room. This accusation of Thomas Bach is unfair, I expect an apology, ”said Tutberidze (quoted from “RIA Novosti”).
Tutberidze called insulting accusations of doping against Valieva

The scandal around Valieva began after the end of the team tournament at the Beijing Games – it became known that the figure skater passed a positive doping test for trimetazidine at the end of December.
The decision on the admission of an athlete to an individual tournament was made by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). Valieva won the short program, but missed the chance to take a medal in the free program.
The fate of the medals of the team tournament will be decided in CAS after the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the International Skating Union (ISU) and RUSADA did not agree with the decision of the disciplinary committee of the agency to deprive Valieva of only the gold of the Russian championship, where she passed a positive doping test.
At the same time, RUSADA offers Valieva a reprimand as punishment, and WADA a four-year suspension.
