Baccalaureate 2023: Over 130,500 Students Begin Written Tests
On Monday, June 26, 2023, more than 130,500 students across the country started the written tests of the Baccalaureate. This marks the beginning of the first session of the 2023 national baccalaureate exam, which will take place from June 26 to 29 in 464 centers.
The examination calendar for the Baccalaureate 2023 includes various subjects to be tested on different days. On Monday, June 26, students took the Romanian language and literature test. The following day, Tuesday, June 27, they faced the mandatory profile test, which included disciplines such as Mathematics and History. On Wednesday, June 28, students had the profile and specialization test, where they could choose from ten different disciplines, including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, Philosophy, Geography, Informatics, Logic, argumentation and communication, Sociology, and Psychology. Finally, on Thursday, June 29, students from all streams, profiles, and specializations, who followed high school studies in a language of national minorities, took the Mother tongue and literature test.
The tests officially started at 9:00 a.m., and students were allowed to enter the classrooms until 8:30 a.m. with a valid ID. The working time for the exam is three hours, calculated from the moment when the distribution of the subjects in the exam hall has ended. However, candidates with visual impairments, hearing impairments, and neurodevelopmental disorders, who had their requests approved by the county commissions, can benefit from an extension of up to two hours.
During the exam, candidates are only allowed to use blue ink or paste for solving the subjects and a black pencil for diagrams and drawings. Drawing tools are permitted for the written tests in Mathematics and Geography. The paper used for the exams is provided in the exam rooms and cannot be brought from outside.
Certain items are prohibited in the exam rooms, including bags, backpacks, purses, and electronic devices such as phones, tablets, and memory sticks. Students are also not allowed to bring textbooks, dictionaries, notes, or any other materials into the classrooms. Communication between candidates or with the outside is strictly forbidden, as well as the exchange of papers, drafts, or any materials that could aid in solving the subjects.
Candidates caught violating these rules will be immediately removed from the exam, regardless of whether they used the prohibited materials or not. This applies even if the materials were introduced by the candidates themselves, other candidates, teaching staff, or any other individuals. As a consequence, these candidates will not be allowed to participate in the next two sessions of the baccalaureate exam.
The initial results of the exams will be displayed on July 3, both in exam centers and online. Candidates can submit complaints regarding the assessment result on the same day between 12:00 and 18:00, including through electronic means. Those contesting the initial assessment result must sign and submit a standard declaration acknowledging that the mark awarded as a result of the appeal may change the initial mark, either by increasing or decreasing it.
The final results will be displayed on July 7, again in exam centers and online. To comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the results will be displayed anonymously, with the candidate’s name and first name replaced by codes.
In conclusion, the Baccalaureate 2023 has commenced with over 130,500 students taking the written tests. These exams will determine their academic achievements and pave the way for their future endeavors.
