Children’s Day ended with a tragedy in Mazatenango, where a married couple was murdered in an armed attack where their 10-month-old baby survived. The minor was unharmed.
It was during the night of October 1 that the family was heading home. However, when passing through Colonia La Florida in zone 2 of Mazatenango, the armed attack occurred. Unknown assailants met him and without saying a word shot them, causing them to fall with the motorcycle they were riding on.

After hearing gunshots, curious onlookers found a couple and their baby shot on the asphalt. The Volunteer Firefighters arrived at the scene and confirmed the death of the adults, but the baby was transferred to the National Hospital, where she was treated.

They identify the victims who died in the armed attack and the baby who survived
The victims were identified as Edwin Pérez Villatoro, 21, and Blanca Floridalma Vásquez, 38, as well as the 1-year-old baby Maritza Anisha Vásquez.
The authorities of the National Civil Police continue to search the area in search of the attackers, but so far there are no results.
Prosecutors from the Public Ministry worked for hours at the crime scene, and then ordered the transfer of the bodies to the INACIF morgue.
