NEW YORK – Authorities are searching for the driver who allegedly ran over a mother and her baby in Brooklyn before fleeing the scene. The little one of about 3 months passed away in the hospital.
According to the New York City Police, the incident occurred on Saturday, at about 6:20 pm, in the area of the intersection of Gates and Vanderbilt avenues, when both were run over.
The victims were transported to different hospitals where the three-month-old baby died and the mother of about 32 years is in critical condition, police said.
Apparently the accident is related to a collision between two vehicles and the driver of one of them could have abandoned the car and fled, according to preliminary police reports. In addition, they added that one person was arrested, but who it would be is unknown.
Police said they are still investigating the events and did not provide further information.
