Young Actor Hudson Meek Dies at 16 Following Tragic Accident
The entertainment world mourns the loss of Hudson Meek, a 16-year-old actor who gained recognition for his role as the young Baby driver in the critically acclaimed film Baby Driver. Meek passed away on December 23rd after a tragic accident in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
According to Vestavia Hills Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates, speaking to AL.com, Meek “sustained blunt force injuries after falling to the road from a moving vehicle” on December 19th. He was transported to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
A poignant message shared on MeekS Instagram account confirmed the devastating news: “Our hearts are broken to share that Hudson Meek went home to be with Jesus tonight,” the post read. “his 16 years on this earth were far too short, but he accomplished so much and substantially impacted everyone he met.”
Beyond his memorable role in Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver alongside Ansel elgort, Meek also appeared in several television series, including MacGyver, Legacies, and Found. His obituary describes a young man with a vibrant spirit, passionate about his faith, The Simpsons (having watched all 36 seasons!), his friends, water sports, the outdoors, travel, and acting. He was a sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School and a member of the Vestavia Hills Rebel Football Team.
The Vestavia hills Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding Meek’s death. A celebration of life service will be held for Meek on December 28th at Dawson Memorial baptist church in Homewood, Alabama. He is survived by his parents, Derek Firth Meek and lani Wells meek; his older brother, Tucker Firth Meek; and his grandmothers, Margaret Green Meek and Faye Searcy Wells.
