Hamburg (dpa / lno) – A woman gave birth to her baby in the ambulance on Hamburg’s Köhlbrand Bridge. The pregnant woman, who had gone into labor, was to be driven to a clinic from the Wilhelmsburg district late on Friday evening, said a fire department spokesman on Saturday. The “Hamburger Abendblatt” had previously reported. The ambulance stopped at the Köhlbrand Bridge for the birth. An emergency doctor who had arrived took over the first care. Then the mother and child were brought to the clinic. Both are fine, said the spokesman.
A few hours earlier, an emergency paramedic in the ambulance control center had given a pregnant woman an unplanned home birth by phone. Even before the ambulance reached the woman in the Wellingsbüttel district, the birth had begun. The ambulance crew took the woman to a clinic with her healthy baby.
