The poor condition of the floor of Avenida 9 de Julho, part of Estrada Nacional 204 (EN 204) that connects the center of Famalicão to Barcelos and Povoa de Varzim, led Jorge Paulo Oliveira to question the government about the maintenance of this infrastructure.
In a question posed to the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, the Famalicense deputy, elected by PSD, denounces that “the floor is very degraded, it has several holes along its length, the markings on the floor are disappearing, the public lighting is inactive in parts on the road, the crossings are not noticeable, especially at night and the vertical road signs are deteriorated ”.

The social democrat adds that “last year, Avenida 9 de Julho was marked by its high accident rate, with numerous vehicle collisions, pedestrians being run over and collisions with cyclists, which resulted in the loss of human lives and several serious injuries”.
Jorge Paulo Oliveira clarified Pedro Nuno Santos, that Avenida 9 de Julho is part of EN204, being under the responsibility of “Infraestruturas de Portugal, SA”, saying he was surprised by the fact that EN204 was intervened in all its extension, beginning in Barcelos, but this intervention ended at “Rotunda do Marco”, as well as the intervention carried out at N206 which also started at “Rotunda do Marco”, but only towards Póvoa de Varzim.

Despite the clamor of the populations and the successive warnings and requests for intervention by the mayors, “there is, therefore, a feeling that for Infraestruturas de Portugal, SA, their responsibility always ends at Rotunda do Marco, whether for coming from Barcelos (EN204) or Póvoa de Varzim (EN206) to Famalicão ”, says Jorge Paulo Oliveira, who asks the Government to justify the exclusion of Avenida 9 de Julho, in the intervention that was carried out in EN204 and to clarify when will it take place.
