Babiš described the tourists in the bars as foreigners

In response to the verdicts of the Supreme Administrative Court (SAC), which reminded the government that measures against coronavirus must be in accordance with the law, Babiš claimed on Radiožurnál on Friday that “the court loosened almost everything”, which is not true, as the court only annulled illegal measures and the degree of dismantling was decided by the government.

The pandemic law from the workshop of Babiš’s government is to blame, which does not allow for blanket bans.

“We can’t afford a Techtle mechtle again,” Babiš said, alluding to the spread of the disease during a party at one of Prague’s clubs last summer.

“I understand that people are upset, that bars are open and there is no music allowed. But we didn’t want to open those bars so that foreigners from all over Europe would come here to drink again, “the prime minister added, alluding to a measure that allows music clubs or discos to open, where, according to the government, live music cannot play and dancing is forbidden.

The share of tourism makes up several percent of domestic GDP and brings the economy lower hundreds of billions of crowns.

While Czechs’ holiday trips are a priority for the government, the resumption of tourism to the Czech Republic, which awaits not only hotel, bar and restaurant operators, but also spas, is on the second track.
