It is said everywhere that the second league should not expand. But if other sources of ambitious teams, such as Pilsen, went ahead, I say otherwise. In that case, we might expand it to twenty clubs,” he said.

At the same time, the reasoning of many experts leads completely in the opposite direction. “It is a mistake that the Czech Republic has 32 professional clubs (16 in the first and 16 in the second league, editor’s note). When I see how they solve it economically in the second league, it seems like a joke to me,” former league coach Josef Csaplár, for example, told Přímák earlier .

Hoftych offers the opposite view. “Sparta Salzburg played with four Czechs in the starting line-up. A large number of foreigners came to us. Where would our young boys play then? I wouldn’t discount a single competition,” he said. “For me, it is necessary to regulate the number of B teams, which would be difficult, or perhaps expand the second league,” concluded Hoftych.
