A representative of the Azerbaijan Standardization Institute (AZSTAND) participated in a seminar on multilateral/mutual recognition of halal certification activities in Istanbul by the Halal Accreditation Authority (HAK) of the Republic of Turkey.
According to the information obtained by SIA from AZERTAC, AZSTAND said that the activities of HAK, the necessity and importance of common standards in halal certification, the work done by the Institute of Standards and Metrology of Islamic Countries (SMIIC) in this field, the multilateralization of halal certificates among countries were reported from AZSTAND. Information was provided on the works carried out by the SMIIC Accreditation Council in the direction of recognition.
At the same time, opinions were exchanged on the OIC/SMIIC 3:2019 standard for Halal Accreditation Bodies and the Islamic Forum of Halal Accreditation Bodies (IFHAB), which will play an important role in the process of multilateral recognition of halal certificates.
In addition to Azerbaijan, representatives of accreditation and standardization bodies from Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, as well as officials of SMIIC and COMCEC (Permanent Committee on Economic and Trade Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation) participated in the seminar.
