The presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan plan to sign a declaration on allied cooperation.
–
According to the Kremlin, Vladimir Putin and Ilham Aliyev, who arrived in Moscow on an official working visit on Monday, intend to discuss the further development of bilateral relations in politics, economics and the humanitarian sphere.
–
“Following the results of the talks, a declaration on allied cooperation will be signed, bringing relations between Russia and Azerbaijan to an allied level,” the Kremlin’s website says.
–
It also specifies that on Tuesday Putin and Aliyev will discuss how the agreements on Nagorno-Karabakh and the restoration of economic and transport ties in the South Caucasus are being implemented.
–
Vladimir Putin recalled that the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries would soon turn 30, and that this date should somehow be celebrated.
–
The Russian President mentioned the successful economic cooperation between the two countries and thanked Ilham Aliyev for maintaining and developing the Russian language, which, according to Putin, indicates that Azerbaijan is striving to strengthen contacts with Russia.
–
On February 21, Putin had a telephone conversation with Armenian Prime Minister Pashinyan, whom he invited to visit Moscow.

During the 44-day second Karabakh war, Turkey’s assistance became one of the important factors in Azerbaijan’s military success. Turkish drones have provided Azerbaijan with air superiority and a significant fire advantage against the armored vehicles of the Armenian forces.
–
While the hostilities were going on, Russia took the position of an observer and only at the last moment, with the consent of Baku, the Russian peacekeepers were sent to Nagorno-Karabakh, where they now control the territory where the Armenian population remained, as well as the Lachin Corridor connecting Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia.

Azerbaijan regained almost all the territories occupied as a result of the 1990s war by Armenian forces. Armenia’s attempts to use the format of the Collective Security Treaty Organization did not bring results.
–
However, now Moscow, which is considered a strategic partner of Yerevan, actually gets the opportunity to include Baku in the list of its strategic allies.
