Azerbaijan-Turkey Brotherhood Park opens

Kuba, Azerbaijan

The Azerbaijan-Turkey Brotherhood Park opened on Monday in Kuba City, in the Kuba district of northeastern Azerbaijan.

The park’s inauguration ceremony was attended by the Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan, Kahid Bakhi, the president of the Cuban Executive Authority, Ziadin Aliyev, and legislators Ahlyman Amirslanov and Kanira Pashayeva.

Speaking at the ceremony, Paxi also noted that today marks the 98th anniversary of the birth of Azerbaijani national leader Heidar Aliyev.

He congratulated Azerbaijan on its victory in the war against Armenian forces to liberate the recently occupied Upper Karabakh.

Speaking at the ceremony, Aliyev underscored the strong and historical ties shared by Turkey and Azerbaijan and praised Turkey’s contribution to the liberation of the Occupied Territories of Armenia.

Relations between the former Soviet republics of Azerbaijan and Armenia have been strained since 1991, when the Armenian army recognized Nagorno-Karabakh or Upper Karabakh as an internationally recognized territory of Azerbaijan and seven adjacent regions.

On September 27, 2020, the Armenian army launched attacks against Azerbaijani civilians and forces and violated several humanitarian ceasefire agreements.

During the 44-day conflict that ended with a treaty signed on November 10 last year, Azerbaijan liberated many cities and almost 300 settlements and villages from the Armenian occupation.

“Through this park, we wanted to express our gratitude to Turkey and contribute to the eternal Turkish-Azerbaijani brotherhood,” he said.

The park is decorated with flags and photographs of the founders of the two countries, Mustafa Kemal Attadurk and Heidar Aliyev.

On the walls surrounding the park were also found quotes from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, expressing the brotherhood of the two countries.
