Belarusian Victoria Azarenka won her second victory at the WTA-1000 tournament in Doha with a prize fund of $3.2 million, reports BELTA.
In today’s second round match, Azarenka, ranked 31st in the world ranking, beat Chinese tennis player Xinyu Wang, ranked 41st, in two games – 7:6 (7:2), 6:2. The fight lasted 1 hour 40 minutes.
In the third round, the Belarusian will meet the winner of the match between Latvian tennis player Elena Ostapenko (11th WTA ranking) and Ukrainian Angelina Kostyuk (30).
Yesterday, in the 1/32 finals, Victoria Azarenka defeated Poland’s Magdalena Fresh (52) in a three-set match – 6:3, 3:6, 6:3.
The last two tournaments in the capital of Qatar were won by Poland’s Iga Swiatek, and in 2020 Aryna Sabalenka won. The current competition in Doha will end on February 17.
