Several clubs contacted the KNVB, but received no response. That tells sports marketer Chris Woerts at Veronica Inside.
Woerts thinks that the union should have taken a much smarter approach. “The government has put together a management team of experts who advise on the policy to be pursued. But at the KNVB they have remained in the ivory tower in Zeist and have determined everything themselves and have not asked clubs to participate,” says Woerts.
Woerts would have liked the KNVB to have also assembled a team of experts. “Then you could have discussed it with the clubs. Now it has been a kind of robbery in the past eighteen hours.”
The KNVB has angered a number of clubs, Woerts knows. “I know that AZ tried to contact the KNVB, but the phone was simply not answered.”
