AZ will not play in the Champions League this season. Due to a bitter 2-0 defeat at Dinamo Kiev, the Alkmaarders missed the play-offs for the main tournament. The team will now advance to the group stage of the Europa League.
Before halftime there was no problem for AZ. The Alkmaarders determined the game against the awaiting Dinamo, gave away almost nothing defensively and got chances via Myron Boadu and Dani de Wit.
Sloppy ball loss Midtsjø
After half time, former Telstar player Gerson Rodrigues opened the score quickly after Fredrik Midtsjø lost possession of the ball. Dinamo leaned back even more, but posed the most danger and just before the end Nicholas Sjaparenko hit the target after weak intervention by Marco Bizot.
