One Last Hug is another horse that looked better than ever when scoring here two weeks ago and is an obvious threat.
In other races, Classy Al had a productive time of it last season, winning three times at this course over varying distances. He ran well on his return over course and distance 19 days ago, doing best of all the horses that raced off the pace despite conceding first run and a slight positional advantage. He has one and a quarter lengths to make up with Judgement Call running-wise, but with a 4 lb advantage now, he’s expected to be much more competitive this time around.
Novak is on a lengthy losing run but has found just one rival too strong on his last three starts, including over course and distance last time. Although that was a stronger race than this one, he remains a horse to be positive about still on his last winning mark.
Finally, Paramaribo remains a maiden but is in form after finishing as the runner-up at Musselburgh last week. Although he didn’t get the clearest run, he showed a lot of promise while doing all of his best work at the finish. He may be able to build on that performance now that he’s running on a more galloping track.
