International fullback Aymeric Luc has signed up for the next two seasons with Section Paloise, currently 11th in the Top 14.
Aged 26, he had been playing at Rugby Club Toulonnais since the summer of 2021, where he had one year of contract remaining. By joining the Béarn club, Luc relaunched his career after two lackluster seasons in La Rade.
A player looking for a new start
Trained as a fullback at Aviron Bayonnais, he made a thunderous debut in Pro D2 before joining Toulon in the summer of 2021.
Author of remarkable performances in the red and black jersey, his playing time was reduced this season with the arrival of the promising Melvyn Jaminet in his position. Worried about seeing his status fall further next season, Luc preferred to give a new direction to his career by joining Pau. A choice made easier by the strong interest of the Béarnais club, in search of an explosive fullback since the departure of Samuel Ezeala for Stade Français.
A profile perfectly suited to the needs of Pau
Aged only 26, Aymeric Luc perfectly matched the profile sought by Pau. Fast, lively and with excellent footwork, he has rare qualities in his position.
Capable of breaking through opposing defenses in small spaces, he will bring all his offensive danger to a team lacking percussion at the back. Besides Pau, several prestigious clubs such as Racing 92 were positioned to welcome him. The Paloise Section therefore achieves a nice coup by attracting this coveted talent.
A reinforcement of weight in the fight for maintenance
Currently 11th in the Top 14, Pau is fighting to stay in the elite this season.
The arrival of Aymeric Luc will undoubtedly constitute valuable reinforcement on the offensive level to help the club save itself. Author of excellent statistical seasons in Bayonne and Toulon, he will try to bring all his high-level experience to the Béarnais collective. It remains to be seen how he will integrate into the Palois collective and whether the mayonnaise will take off with his new partners.
His adaptation will greatly determine the impact he will have on the team’s performance next season.
