Awards and musical instruments put on the truck; Ilayaraja leaves room at Prasad Studio

Sa.Ilayaraja’s room number one is no longer in Prasad’s studio in Li village. Two container trucks full of goods left the studio yesterday. Among them were awards and musical instruments including the Padma Vibhushan.

Ilayaraja used the room in Prasad’s studio for recording for more than thirty years. It was with the verbal permission of LV Prasad, the founder of the studio. But when Prasad’s successor Sai Prasad took over the studio, Ilayaraja was asked to vacate the room. Ilayaraja filed a petition in the High Court against the expulsion and sought permission to meditate there for a day. He also demanded compensation of Rs 50 lakh.

Later, the Madras High Court granted Ilayaraja’s request to be allowed to meditate for one day. The court also directed that the time of the visit be decided in consultation with both the parties. Later, Ilayaraja’s lawyer came and took the goods from the studio.

His lawyer told the media that the Padma Vibhushan award and other items were left unattended on the floor. According to national media reports, the lawyer said that the recording theater was in a dilapidated condition and that Ilayaraja did not come to the studio as he did not have the strength to watch it.
