On the eve of Women’s Day, on the evening of March 7, the Jonava Cultural Center traditionally awarded “Jonas Places of the Year”.
The townspeople nominated community-minded, courageous, hardworking, decisive, dutiful, professional, active in public spheres, participating in charitable activities without compensation, nurturing fundamental values, for the “Woman of the Year” nomination.
Three “Woman of the Year” nominations were handed out for the nominations for “Johanntown of the Year” that were submitted the most times. Olga Mediekšė was nominated for “Jonas Town of the Year – a professional example”, Evelina Darvidė was nominated for “Jonas Town of the Year – an inspiration of community”, and Vilmantė Stašauskaitė was nominated for “Jonas Town of the Year – Beacon of Kindness”.
The gathered participants of the event were greeted by the mayor of the municipality Mindaugas Sinkevičius, member of the Seimas Eugenijus Sabutis and director of the Jonava cultural center Sergejus Jefimenka.
All the nominees were given handmade souvenirs. Stabilized moss is located in the copper-colored frames, as a symbol of inexhaustible femininity, and in the middle – a beautiful bird, symbolizing the freedom and ease of flying through life to achieve heights in the professional field, spreading good and fostering community.
After the awards, the band “Pikaso” gave the audience a good mood.
