Mr. Ilias Gartzonikas, in his introduction, emphasized the need for holistic management and promotion of archaeological and cultural sites as “branded” destinations in the region, which can lead to the “qualitative leap from technical projects to life projects” and be an organized effort sustainable development with a focus on monuments in Epirus.
The “Cultural Route to the Ancient Theaters of Epirus” with a leading role of the Region of Epirus, which is the Strategy Body, is an innovative program, not only on a European, but also on a global scale, as it is a specialized and branded, holistic cultural tourism product , which is formed on the basis of a specific, coherent element, which is the five ancient theaters in the four Regional Units of Epirus (Dodoni, Nicopolis, Kassopi, Gitana, Amvrakia) and their archaeological sites.
The presentation was accompanied by a parallel screening of videos with three topics: the restoration of all 5 theaters, the experiential cultural journey of a modern visitor to them and to nearby attractions and finally, augmented reality applications for guided tours, etc. which will soon be implemented.
