The city of Mannheim was named one of the “Best Trainers in Germany 2024” by Capital and the Studium.de platform. The best training companies in the country were identified in a large-scale study, and Mannheim achieved excellent results: 4 out of 5 stars in the area of training and 5 out of 5 stars in the area of dual studies.
“We are very proud of this award, which recognizes the great commitment and continuous development of our training program. The great performance of our training team is not only reflected in the results of this study, but above all in the daily work with our trainees and students. My thanks go to everyone involved for their commitment and passion for supporting young talents and preparing them for a successful future,” says Christian Specht, Mayor of the City of Mannheim.
“A special success for Mannheim was the training completion of our former trainee Jason Mette, who completed his training as a professional driver on August 31, 2024 as the best in his year. For this achievement, the city of Mannheim was awarded a certificate from the Chamber of Industry and Commerce – an achievement that recognizes the commitment of the training team under the supervision of Lara Müller, who oversees the career profile of professional drivers in the team,” adds Dr. Liane Schmitt, Head of the Organization and Human Resources Department of the City of Mannheim.
Survey of around 500 companies
The award was preceded by a comprehensive survey that was carried out from mid-March to early June 2024. Around 500 companies from various industries, from DAX companies to craft businesses, took part.
Important criteria for the award were the support of the trainees, learning in the company, training marketing – and finally, how innovative the training in the company is was also assessed. One result of the survey is that companies that adapt their training to the needs of applicants and social developments are significantly more successful. A particular focus was on dealing with new technologies as well as on imparting intercultural knowledge and social justice. In 78 percent of the companies surveyed, dealing with new technologies plays a central role in training, while topics such as intercultural competence (54 percent) and social justice (60 percent) are also very important.
