The Russian Defense Ministry on Sunday released footage of Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visiting troops in Ukraine. The images show Shoigu exiting a helicopter, meeting with commanders and awarding medals to soldiers.
The soldiers received an award for their service in the “special military operation,” as the war is officially called in Moscow.
The footage was released on the same day that Russia attacked the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv in the early hours of the morning. At least two residential buildings were shot at, according to Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Eyewitnesses tell of rescue workers fighting the flames in Kyiv and rescuing civilians. Klitschko said four people were hospitalized with injuries and a 7-year-old girl was recovered alive from the rubble.
