Awa Fall: The Rising Reggae Ambassador with a Pulse of Joy and Experimentation

A new up and coming reggae ambassador is Awa Fall, born Awa Fall Mirone in 1996 in Bergamo, northern Italy. Her name is not pronounced like “to fall” in English, but like “Fall” in German. Because “Fall” is a surname from Senegal, her father’s homeland. But her aunt Valentina, who worked at the opera and motivated her to take piano lessons, introduced her to music. They toured all over Italy as a duo until Awa started her solo career when she was 18.

Reggae pulse and joy of experimentation

Her classical background still shines through in her songs, for example in the first bars of “Changes”, where she sings a gospel intro accompanied only by the piano. She also likes to experiment with her versatile voice, sometimes singing high, sometimes low or falling into a razor-sharp deejay flow – some solo pieces seem like Awa Fall is singing a duet with herself. This is accompanied by powerful modern roots or lovers rock from producers such as Bizzarri from Modena or Anaves Music from Austria. Features by Ombre Zion from Senegal or Brother Culture from Brixton, who enrich the song “Music” with old-school Deejay styles, ensure variety on the microphone.
