AvtoVAZ, Russia’s largest passenger car manufacturer, has revealed its plans for the near future. By 2030, the company promises 12 new models that will be produced in cooperation with eastern partners.
The publication Autonews.ru writes about it, referring to the information provided by the head of AvtoVAZ Maksim Sokolov. According to the latest plans, 12 new models will go into production by 2030, helping AvtoVAZ secure a leading role in the Russian market.
The manager added that the company works in all directions, meaning car production together with eastern partners. In addition, Sokolov has not ruled out the appearance of a new brand with a new range of models.
Most of these 12 models are unknown, but a few are known.
In 2024, the production of the extended sedan Lada Aura will be started. It will be a car with improved comfort, a 1.8-liter 122 hp naturally aspirated engine and an automatic transmission at a price that will exceed 2 million rubles (approximately 20,500 euros). Let us remind you that earlier the media wrote that this model is being prepared to provide public servants with transport – that was Putin’s recommendation.
Production of the electric e-Largus is planned to start in May next year. Assembly of the test batch of the car has already started at the plant in Izhevsk. The car will be offered in versions of a passenger and a small station wagon intended for commercial transport. The E-Largus is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that delivers 50 kW (68 hp), with the ability to temporarily reach 120 kW (163 hp), so 100 km/h can be reached in less than 10 seconds.
At the turn of 2023 and 2024, AvtoVAZ will start selling the new Lada X-Cross 5 crossover to private customers. It’s a 2018 Chinese FAW Bestune T77 with Russian company logos on it. This is a five-door car with front-wheel drive, a 1.5-liter 160 hp gasoline turbo engine and a seven-speed robotic gearbox.
At the beginning of 2025, AvtoVAZ plans to release a new model – Lada Iskra. This car is designed as a replacement for the Lada Granta family, will be equipped with a 1.8 liter 122 HP naturally aspirated engine and will be offered in sedan, station wagon and cross station wagon versions. The Iskra family is expected to completely replace the Grant line by 2027.
